Blog Tour: Vampyre Kisses- Elizabeth J. Kolodziej

Hey everyone! I will be your host today December 22, 2012 for this Tour Stop. I am doing an author interview with the lovely Elizabeth J. Kolodziej. Here it goes!!

1). Can you explain why your book is about and what inspired you to write it?
My book is about a young woman who doesn't realize she is a Witch. After meeting a vampire named Trent he helps her to find her path. The inspiration for this book came from my knowledge of the supernatural, imagination and own life experiences I wanted to share with the world.
2). How long did it take you to get your book written and published?
I would say a total of four years. I started the book when I was 18 and at first it was just a hobby. When I went to university for a Bachelors in English I began to become even more inspired and eventually finished the book. Then I looked at it and said what do I do with it now? lol.
3). What is your favourite part of the book and why?
Oooo. That's a tough question. I would say one of my favorite scenes is when a werewolf attacks Faith and she is forced to do magic for the first time.
4). What was the hardest part in the book to write and why?
Writing from Trent's perspective was difficult. For some it is easy to write either POV, however I had never written from a male POV and I found it difficult because men's brains work so differently from ours.
5). Who is your favourite character from Vampyre Kisses and why?
Though it's difficult I would have to say Faith (and Oran). Faith is a strong female lead that didn't just POOF learn her magic. She had to go through trial and error along with being trained. That isn't an easy task!
6). Do you have a writing routine that you follow?
Back several months ago when I didn't have a huge social life, boyfriend, holidays, and five different pieces to work on at once I would say I might of. haha. I try really hard at writing now. I have been going through a tad of writer's block and lack of time though. Somehow I am making my way through it!
7). What other authors and/ or books inspired you to become a writer!
The first author to truly inspire me was Tamora Pierce. I began my first book when I was 13/14 and got to the last chapter but never finished. She truly is a mentor to me. One I can't talk to unless I use my imagination but STILL! Other would be: R.L Stein, Christopher Moore, Kim Harrison and Jeaniene Frost.
8). How do you come up with your ideas?
Truthfully, it is different every time. The most often is when I am driving and listening to music, at the point it is like a bolt of lightning and I get an idea. Normally it is that bolt of lightning that gives me inspiration out of no where.
9). What are you working on now and can you give us any details?
At the moment I am working on book 4 for the Last Witch series. It is called Demonic Charms and will delve further into the scene that happens a chapter or two before the end of Witch Devotions. And yes, there will be demons involved. ::wink:: Also, I am trying to get the prequel short story to the Last Witch Series done. That is hush hush but I can tell you it takes place in the 40's/50's time period.
Under a pen name I am working on my Steampunk series: Zombiepunk. The first book for that is being edited right now and will involve masked heroes, zombies, a voodoo queen and characters from the band V is for Villains.
Along with several other projects I am working on.
10). What advice would you give to others pursuing writing?
Read up on marketing, PR and how to write well. Take a class even. Then decide if you are up for the task.
<3's and fangs,
Liz ^_^
